Average People like Average People

Recently I was watching an interview of a cricketing personality where the comment was made that average people cannot like or make great people. And it seems very true in every field of the life.

People do have an underlying emotion that shapes our personality and influences our behavior and that is insecurity. Average people feels mostly insecure and threatened if they come across any great or extraordinary people. Average people feel more confident when they are surrounded by same minded average people.

Major logic behind this is attributed to the fact that average people believe that smarter people will make rest of them look bad. This is the same phenomenon that if one person looks good then others in comparison looks bad. And if average people can’t compete then they have incentive in stopping the things or ideas which great people can bring to the table.

As a result of it, average people either get rid of great people or suppress them to a great deal through all possible means. So from my point of view, it seems appropriate that “average people like only average people.”
